How is America safer?

Dear Mr. Chaney,

I keep hearing you say America is safer today due to yours and Georges actions since 911.

Ok, so you are willing to take the credit/blame for what did not happen since 911.

Ok Mr ex-Vice President what about accepting the credit/blame for 911.

What about the almost 3000 lives lost due to 911. do you accept any blame?

What about the almost 4300 American lives lost in iraq due to a war that had no real reason for being, except you wanted one? Are you willing to accept credit/blame for them. If so how is it that since more Americans have died in a useless and uncalled for war than on 911, that you can call American safer now than then? if we had not gone to war for no clear reason in in Iraq 4300 American lives would still be alive. How does that make us more safer?

Frivolous Law Suits Can Be Stopped.

I understand and agree that there are many annoying and wasteful law suits filed every year, and should never have been filed, in fact a lawyer should never have taken on the case. I do not believe we need to limit what/when someone can sue over but simply punish lawyers who take on the frivolous law suits. The problem is not that someone feels harmed by someone else's actions and wants to sue someone, but that a lawyer is willing to take on a law suit that has no merit. Lawyers should be held accountable when wasteful and worthless law suits are filed. When a lawyer takes on a case that has no merit and wastes the time, effort, and money of both the court as well as the person filed against, the lawyer needs to be held accountable for their actions. There maybe a legitimate reason sometime in almost any circumstance or situation that a law suit should be filled, but when there is no legitimate reason for the suit, it is the lawyers responsablity to explain that to their client.

Responsablitity for law suit abuse should start and ends with lawyers.

George W Bush is the most horrible man to occupy the Whitehouse ever.

I do not believe in eternal damnation but if any man deserves it George W. Bush does.

The Right is not so right any more, They are Just plain Wrong if not crazy.

I saw this article and thought this was something I have been feeling for a while now.

Another good idea for President Obama

http://publius.cc/2008/10/30/forward-with-fiber/

This is something we need to do after we get ourselves out of the crack we are in now.

Our Auto Industry and its problems.

Lets talk sense here folks. We need to look at some truths here. First of all we have to stop producing internal combustion engines in our automobiles. We have to go to all electric cars, at least for the near term. In the future fuel cells or hydrogen may replace batteries. The oil companies own the battery patents in the USA. We need to use the right of Imminent domain to strip them of their patents, if they refuse to release them immediately. We need a Manhattan like project to get ourselves up and running on battery production and usage in all our automobiles.

If the Automobile companies want to continue to exist they must convert over to an all electric car production asap. Any internal combustion automobiles they do product must be pushed to get the maximum mpg. No more big honking SUV. Practical cars for this day and age are the only thing acceptable. The Labor Unions are going to have take a hit one way or the other, either lose your jobs completely or go to a pay scale that reflects the real world economy.

The automotive companies themselves need to be overhauled, from the top down. No more multi-million dollar paychecks for company execs. No more Golden Parachutes. If we rescue the auto companies they are going to have to go back to a time where reason rules in the corperation boardrooms and paychecks.

We should be repaid for any loans we give them either that or we should let them go bankrupt.
If the excutives who got themselves into this mess do not want to resign from office then we should let them go bankrupt. F__k'em, and ban them perminently from any future boardrooms in America. Lets stop the F__k'ing bullshit. They screwed up and now they want our help, they do not have to option of telling us how we will help them. We will tell them how we will help them. They can not dictate the conditions under which we will save thier asses. We Should and Will dictate to them how business will or will not be run from now on if they want our help.

5 problems and 1 solution

First I would like to state three truths.

1. There is a finite supply of oil, that will run out someday.

2. The price for oil will in the long run only go higher.

3. At some point we are going to have to stop using Oil.

Ok, having said that I will move on with my essay.

The are five problems currently that need a solution.

1. Our economy, it is in shambles and we need to get people back to work.

2. Oil is creating a national security problem. We are spending millions of dollars a day to guard the Arabian Gulf to protect the oil supply and its flow to our country.

3. We are sending billions of dollars a year to the middle east and have a unbalanced trade deficit with the middle eastern countries.

4. We are destroying our world's environment burning oil.

5. The three truths.

One Solution, Get off the oil tit asap.

If we can stop using oil in the very near future we can solve these problems and more.

1. We need to start creating jobs. Start a renewable energy industry. We need wind, solar, hydroelectric, wave motion... anything that is a renewable energy source.

2. The sooner we stop using oil the sooner we can stop guarding the middle east for its oil supply.

3. The sooner we stop buying oil the sooner we stop sending our money to the middle east.

4. The soon we stop burning oil for energy the sooner we start cleaning up our world's environment.

5. Ultimately we will be saving ourselves billions of dollars the sooner we start because the sooner we start the sooner we will finish, thus saving us the further increases in the price of oil.

Here in the USA we past our peak production of oil in the 1980's. Sure we have some reserves in Alaska and the continental shelf. However, even if we could magically start producing the oil right now, those supplies would only last us another 10 years at our current rate of consumption.
If we start immoderately creating a new renewable energy economy we could save ourselves and out children billions of dollars in real dollars and perhaps even start saving the world from further ecological disasters.

The Federal Government could Start right now by giving every household in the country a $10,000.00 Tax credit for investing in renewable energy systems for their own homes. Imagine what would happen if a million home owners decided to buy solar power panels for their homes to replace the power they currently buy from the power companies. Now imagine what would happen if every homeowner in the country could afford to do that and replace the own energy needs with renewable energy either with wind or solar systems or both.

The Government would have to pass legislation to remove any zoning or covenants rules that would prevent every household in the USA from doing so.

What if the federal government did the same thing for every business in America. What if every home and business in America produced enough electrical energy for its own use? sure some of the current power stations would have to remain online to handle energy needs at night time or during times there is a lack of wind in an area.

We could then export this technology to the rest of the world. We could become an exporter of renewable energy technology and equipment. Imagine the USA a manufacturing country again?

Then if we wanted to we could use our surplus oil to help other countries untill they could get off the Oil Tit.

To The Next President and The People of The USA. part 6

We have to stop spying on American Citizens either at home or abroad. We have to stop the mass wire tap on our phones and the internet. We need to have a new amendment to the bill of rights defining The right of Privacy. The right to privacy in our homes and papers needs to be updated to include our phones, internet, and any other form of communications that may develop in the future. The definition of what Search and seizure of our personal property means must be expanded for more modern day applications than were originally mentioned in the constitution.

Our health care system needs work too. The federal government has to be able to negotiate with drug companies who supply drugs to the government health plans to get the best price for drugs and not just allow the drug companies to rape our financial futures. We have to do some thing about the medically uninsured or under-insured Americans. A large part of our national bankruptcy problem is about our out of control medical bills. I am not talking about socialized medicine, I am talking about what President Obama is saying about offering the uninsured government group health insurance. I am sure our government gets good group rates for the premiums why not allow the uninsured the opportunity to get some at that same rate?

The Internet is a fascinating invention and it will revolutionize our lives in ways we can not imagine yet. For this to happen everyone in this country has to be connected to the internet. Dialup is not what I am talking about. We need to hard wire or should I say glass wire every house, school, and business in America to facilatate this revolution. The cost of something like this is not even close to what we have spent in iraq, on the war based on a lie invented in some deep recess of the whitehouse. This idea will help America become connected in ways we can not yet imagine but I believe it would be worth every penny. I beleive the return on our investment would far exceed anyones expectations, and no american military personal have to die in any far off lands; That alone makes the whole venture worthwhile to me.

To The Next President and The People of The USA. part 5

We have to make a quick and dramatic change in the direction we are heading in the court of world opinion. We have to be an example of a country of laws, and obey them with no exceptions. We have sadly and terribly have failed to do this recently, and well as in ourpast.

The very first thing the next president should do is start a bill to repeal the patriot act. The American public has to be given back their constitutional right of habeas corpus. We have to offer these same protections under the law to anyone we are trying under our law.

Then issue an executive order immediately stopping the CIA's extraordinary renditions. Then order the military to go back to their older original orders about handling prisoners. We have to stop any kind of behavior that even remotely resembles torture. We have to reinstate the Geneva Treaties on the human treatment of prisoners of war.

We have to close Gitmo immedately if not sooner. We have to charge anyone held there asap or release them to thier home country. We can no longer afford the excuses of "fear of terrorism" to act in a terroristic manor toward others. Two wrong do not make a right. If we are going to be a beacon of Freedom and Democrocy to the world we have to obey all of our laws and all of the international laws as well.

We have to sign the treaty that puts us under the world court system. We have to be accountable to the world if we are going to be a responsible member of the world. If our previous leaders have broken international laws we have to allow the world court system to hold them responsible and accountable for their behavior. How can we demand anyone be tried in the world court system if we are not held to the same standards of law.

We have to come to terms with the Iraqi Government and sign a security agreement with them. If they want us out by 2011 then we, by God, have to get out by that date, and sooner if the want it. We can not and should not defy the duly elected sovereign government of Iraq.

Only if we start respecting civil liberties at home and abroad can we ever hope to be looked up to by other people in other lands. We may be the richest and the most powerful country in the world but that by and of itself does not allow us to rule over other people lives just cause we want to. We are supposed to be a nation of laws, we have to start honoring all of our laws and the laws of other nations as well as international laws.

We need to immediately sign the Kyoto accords. We have to become part of the solution to the problem and not remain as part of the problem. How can we expect any other country to stop the pollution of our planet if we are not willing to do the same?

The only way we are ever going to gain the respect and trust of the other countries of the world is if we start acting respectful and honest with them and ourselves. It is about dam time we start, before the rest of the world hates us and wants to destroy us. If we want others to stop attacking us and wanting to kill us we have to start treating everyone with the same respect we want them to give to us.

We must defend ourselves but only when an someone unjustly attacks us, not just because we do not like their leaders or someone in the current administration cooks up a plan about how they are going to attack us when they could not attack us even if they wanted to. This alternative propaganda department that the Bush Whitehouse cooked up in the pentagon dreaming up the lies for the reasons we should invade Iraq was bullshit and we should prosacute those people for lieing to the american people and causing the deaths of thousands of american military and even more iraqi's people.

To The Next President and The People of The USA. part 4

We need energy independence, but not by drilling for oil in our own country, we need 100% renewable energy resources. We have to get off the oil tit. We need clean, dependable, renewable energy. Oil and coal and nuclear are not clean, and certainly not renewable. We can not keep sending billions of dollars overseas in unbalanced trade deficits. We need to create jobs here and create technology here that can be exported to the rest of the world. We need a Manhattan type project for renewable energy. We need to be inspired by our next government to go completely green for our energy needs.

We have a system of greed that permeates our financial system. Our top executives receive salaries and retirement plans that far exceed any rational explanation. In Asia and Europe the ratio for executives to average employee pay is in the neighborhood of between 17 t0 1 to 40 t0 1. Here in the USA our executives receive a pay ratio between 400 to 1 to 800 to 1. Why is this happening? The plain and simple answer is pure greed, and the fact that the board of directors of these companies are not doing their jobs. How can they justify these pay rates to their shareholders? These rates are simply unjustified by any stretch of the imagination. Out government has to step in and stop the lunacy. The FDIC, The SEC, and the FED has to step in and stop allowing this raping of our financial corporations.

We also have to stop the system of allowing these Golden parachutes. Why should a CEO or other executive receive a windfall simple because they are no longer employed by a company? Some of these incredible windfalls are such that they will never have to work again in their lifetimes. This is wasteful and stupid and should be stopped immediately.

We also need to do the same for our government employees who are receiving these incredible paychecks. These employees should receive the same cola raises that the rest of us get.

To The Next President and The People of The USA. part 3

Even more changes are needed.

I have been thinking about our residency/citizenship problem. If we truly want service to be a backbone of our country and our culture, how do we work that into the system we currently have.

I think we need to have a two part system, the first system is about legal residency in the USA. Anyone born in this country is automatically a legal resident of this country. Anyone individual naturalized through the immigration system would be considered a legal resident of this country. Visitors who have legal visas of some kind would be considered legal visitors but not legal residents of this country. Those that have arrived illegally by what ever method, must prove themselves worthy of legal residency and/or citizenship. If they have lived here and committed no crimes other that illegally entering this country, they can pay a fine for entering illegally, annually say for 5 to 7 years and when that is paid then they can apply for legal residency and go through the naturalization process. If they have committed any crimes other than coming here illegally that must be deported asap. Any of their property will be sold and the proceeds forwarded to the individual in their country of origin asap. Any of their family members that have been born here can stay with any legal residents of this country of their parents choice or they can return to their parents country of origin with their family.

The second is part about Citizenship. To be a Citizen you must have served your country in some way. Citizenship earns you the right to vote. I think a four year term in the military should certainly count as service to your country. I think that if you get a college degree and a teacher certificate and you volunteer to teach in a underfunded school system for four years that should be counted as service to your country. I think that being a police or fireman for four years in a underfunded area of the country that should count as service to your country. If you are a doctor or nurse and you volunteer to work in a underfunded area of the country that should count as service to your country. Citizenship requires service to your country. Individuals who have done service for their country should be eligible to be elected into government service in any political office of the country.

This is not about a two class system, it is about who is legally a resident on this country and who has served this country and and earned the right/responsibility of citizenship. Citizenship is a right/responsibility that is earned by service to this county. If you do not want the responsibility of citizenship you do not have to do the service. Everyone should work and pay taxes but citizens can vote and hold office, they have earned that right and responsibility by their service to this country.

At eighteen years of age, everyone should has the right to declare their wish to become a citizen. There should be many ways an individual can serve their country. Service in the peace corp should also count, toward citizenship.

I believe that a decision that was made more than two hundred years ago needs to be revisited.
the decision i refer to is the Jefferson/Madison debate. What is the best thing the country can do for its citizens. Jefferson believed that we should educate an individual to the highest level that they could achieve. Madison believed that we should only educate our populous to the level that they could serve in the top 3% factories and farms. Madison won, thus we have the leveling of education in our public schools system to a barely vocational system. I believe that decision to be wrong headed and prejudiced in favor of the rich and powerful.

We Americans have made some of the worlds greatest discoveries and inventions for the last 300 years, but we are falling behind, in a few decades if not already we are going to become a third world country as far as the worlds education systems are concerned. We have to start again producing the best and the brightest educated people in the world, and it has to be our own people not foreign exchange students from other countries. The only way to do that is to knuckle down and start teaching our kids real lessons about life and stop letting them learn about life from dim witted mind numbing TV's and Movies.

We need to teach our kids about Science and Math not some superstitious mumbo jumbo about intelligent creation. That is a belief system not a system of science. I am not against parents teaching our kids about their personal belief system. I think that is important. but if we are going to teach intelligent creationism whose system are we going to teach, Christian, Muslim, Native American, Buddhist, Taoist, Hindu, Baha'i? and who decides? and who's kids get what?

Let parents teach their own belief systems, and let schools teach subjects meant to be taught in schools. This is the traditional separation of church and state talked about in the Constitution. Our founding fathers did not want a government that proclaimed one religion approved by the state. They wanted matters of the spiritual nature to be the experts in that field ministers, preachers, priests, etc...

When our kids rank #1 in the world education system then and only then we will have done our jobs as parents and as an american public and government for and by the people.

To The Next President and The People of The USA. part 2

More changes are needed!

We need to drop the electoral college, there are just two many tricks to making that work out. We say we are a democracy and that every vote counts but that is not true if we continue to use the electoral college. We need to go to the direct voting method, that way every votes counts. One person one vote is the promise of democracy and we need to finally get there with the presidential elections.

Primaries need to be help nationwide and all on the same day from 7am to 7pm in each time zone as well as on election day. with no votes totals released until the last precinct closes in the last time zone.

We need a fool proof method to count the ballets, electronic voting as we currently do it is not working and has to many potentials for failure. We need verifiable ballets. we need the ability to do a physical recount if needed. we need poll watchers who can actually watch something beside just sitting on their hands hoping it is the election is fair. Written mail in ballets are at least one fair way to get it done until something foolproof can be devised electronically.

I think we need to get away from the only two party system. I would prefer multiple parties and multiple candidates, with a run off system that requires one of the finalists to get 51% of the vote. We also need to find a way to get a more direct public opinion poll from congress to use when needed. perhaps some kind of online polling system where each eligible voters logs in and participates in the poll. this might help get our government to start listening to its constituency.

We also need to change our justice system, so that a individual charged is really considered "innocent until proven guilty." The news about details of a crime should be illegal to be released until after the court has made its decision. That prevents the jury pool from being swayed by news reports before all the evidence is in. there is no need to sequester a jury if all of the evidence has be published before hand in the news. The Trials need to be taped and published after the trial is over with that way justice has really been truly served. Today with blow by blow reports, day and night, months and months, before the trial ever happens; justice is not served, it is just the court is of public opinion, that is not justice as our founding fathers wanted it.

I recognize the peoples right to know but that need does not trump the defendant need to a fair and impartial jury. Everyone can get their 15 minutes of fame just wait till after the trial is over with and justice has be allowed to proceed unencumbered by pretrial publicity.
